I am a woman of courage...
For ten years I have been a competitive swimmer and, I am proud to say that I feel accomplished and proud that I have been faithfully committed to doing what I love. My swimming journey started very young; I attended the YMCA in Downey, learning swim technique and dedicating myself to my sport. As I advanced in swimming, my parents enrolled me into the Downey Dolphins Swim Team where I took off faster then Michael Phelps. My weekdays consisted of two-hour practices five days a week, and four hour practices on Saturdays. The weekends consisted of eight hour swim' meets cutting off seconds to improve my swim times. I found the courage to overcome the tiring meets and long practices because I loved my sport and nothing was going to stop me from pushing my limits to be the best swimmer I could possibly be. I started high school swimming with a "kick", taking every opportunity and advantage possible to improve myself and have my techniques down to a T. Here I am, senior year and my last season of high school approaches. I have reached the top and I know to only aim higher from there, as a Saint Joseph swimmer, I take pride in my team and always remind them that we are sisters before teammates. I am honored to announce that all my years of dedication to swimming has led me to become team captain of the Saint Joseph's swim team. I am proud of not only myself, but the hard work that the team has put into every swim meet and practice to succeed.
